Space sustainability explained
Keen to learn about keeping space clean and sustainable? This page covers responsible satellite use, reducing space junk, global cooperation, and how you can get involved.

Responsible practices in orbit
We need to talk about responsible satellite use and disposal, like ensuring old satellites are safely de-orbited. Humans can limit creating new space junk by designing missions and rockets with sustainability in mind. Together, these points show that sustainability is a shared responsibility.

Linking earth to space

Sustainable choices:
Everyday choices on Earth connect to space sustainability. Supporting renewable energy, choosing low emission transport, and learning about sustainable materials help reduce the pressure to launch more satellites and rockets. We can also set up a global treaty, as when companies and countries collaborate, they will share information, which means let machines have to be launched into space for the absolute same reason. NASA estimates that each year 208 space vessels get launched into space for the same reason by different companies. I understand that space is extremely interesting and has hidden treasures that need to be discovered, but we aren't learning or discovering anything new by launching a vessel to do the same thing 200 more times! We can even discover more together while harming space less.
Get involved today!
Learn more about space sustainability, think about how it connects to your life, and share what you’ve learned with others. Support responsible space practices through school projects, community activities, or simply making more environmentally friendly choices on Earth. Get people talking, spreading awareness, and taking small actions. Every small action helps a heap when even ginormous companies don't care that much.
